JOHN BEHLMANN is a New York-based actor and singer most known for his roles on Broadway, where he last appeared playing Jerry in the new Broadway musical SMASH. Prior to that, John received a Grammy nomination starring as conman Gordy Jackson in the Tony-nominated musical comedy Shucked, and an Outer Critics Nomination for creating the role of dim-witted hunk Max in the Tony-winning musical Tootsie. He appeared in the Broadway premiere of Joshua Harmon’s play Significant Other, starred in the NYC production of The 39 Steps, and made his Broadway debut in the Tony-winning play revival of Journey’s End. He just finished playing Dolly’s husband Carl Dean in the Broadway-bound Dolly Parton bio musical. On film, he’s appeared in large studio features, starred in smaller indies and worked with celebrated directors like Martin Scorsese, Sam Mendes, and Greg Mottola. His TV credits include Elsbeth, The Gilded Age, Riverdale, Good Behavior, Madam Secretary, Blue Bloods and more. He’s also had the great pleasure of facepunching/being facepunched on camera by terrific actors like Jon Hamm, Ben Schwartz, Terry Kinney, KJ Apa, among others. Equally at home in comedy or drama, on stage or on screen, John has been fortunate to work in a wide array of mediums and styles. He’s been in off-broadway plays and musicals for many of New York’s most respected theater companies including Lincoln Center, Ars Nova, Roundabout, MTC, MCC, Encores, and the Civilians. He’s had an extensive on and off-camera commercial career serving as the face and voice for major national brands such as Dairy Queen, Spectrum Business, and Edge Shave Gel. He’s a featured vocalist on multiple original cast albums for Broadway and Off-Broadway musicals, He’s also been a voice actor in global video game franchises like Grand Theft Auto, Hearthstone, and most notably over 14 years as a voice in the World of Warcraft series. He’s a former trapeze artist, hobbyist photographer, proud husband, and father to two young children.
